For the second activity of day 1 of the Winter Learning Journey, we had to watch a video that talks about Auckland. We then had to think of our top 5 favourite facts, and list them.
Fact 1: Auckland has the most boats per capita in the world!
Fact 2: Rangitoto can be seen from all around the city.
Fact 3: No matter where you go in Auckland there will always be water near.
Fact 4: Maori ancestors sailed here about a 1000 years ago.
Fact 5: Near the Waitakere Ranges is Piha
The facts above are from the YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qldi00zUxA
Hi Jack,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing those facts - I love that we are always near water because that means in the summer, somewhere to swim is never far away! Have you been to Bethell's Lake in West auckland? That's one of my favourite places to go in Auckland!
Like the video shows, there are so many cool places to go in Auckland! Can you tell me which 5 places would be your favourite??
Nicky :)
Hi Jack
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting the link of the video in your post. I didn't know that Maori people sailed here to New Zealand about one thousand years ago. Keep up the amazing work Jack.
