Inquiry: Our Local Community

L.I: to make generalisations about the impact of a group in our community

This week for inquiry, our must do was to create a Vlog, (Video log). Before you start asking yourself questions, let me get this out of the way. This Vlog needed to show our reactions of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. Although, before we could start recording, we needed to choose one of these scenarios. 1. All government services are gone
2. All health services are gone
3. All food services are gone
I chose to do number two, and pretend there are no longer any health services, like ambulances, hospitals, first aid kits, etc. I had a lot of fun doing this activity, but sadly, I couldn't record out side, that being the reason why i'm not that loud in the video, (Because of the other people recording).

Inquiry: Our Most Favourite Roles

L.I: to classify personal relationships

This week for inquiry, we continued our must do from last week. Although, this time it was quite different. This time, we worked alone, had to add a lot more information, and had to chose three roles. These roles needed to be the roles that we enjoyed the most, and wanted to learn more of. I chose to do this on libraries / librarians, bus drivers, and ambulance drivers and attendants. I created a set layout for this presentation, and that included how much you get payed to work as that role, a fact, that same fact from a different site, and a box at the top with a text saying whether they interact with my family. I would also add in a picture that I would draw of that job. The hardest part of this activity had to be creating the ambulance.

Inquiry: Government Services

L.I: to look at more than one information source when researching.
L.I: to record facts in your own words.

This week for inquiry, we continued our Our Local Community inquiry subject. We, again, had to get into a group of six. Be partners with one of those five other people in your group. Chose 2 of the given types of people in the local community, and then research about them. i'm not going to go into full detail for what has to be done. So if you want to know more, then go to one of my previous inquiry blogposts. This time I was partners with Avalon. Our subject for this week was, Government Services. We had 6 choices to pick from, Politicians, Councils, Mayors, Libraries, Ministry For Primary Industries, or Welfare. Avalon and I chose to do Mayors, and Libraries. Again, we couldn't find any books backing up the facts we found, so we had to skip that one part.

Inquiry: Trades

LI: To look at more than one information source when researching.

LI: To record facts in your own words

This week for inquiry, we again had the same must do as last week. Although, this time instead of doing it on professionals. We did it on our local trades. We, like last week, had to get with a pair, and you and your pair would choose 2 of the given trades. I worked with Florence, and we chose to do Public Transport Driver, (A.K.A bus driver) and Delivery Driver.

Inquiry: Our Local Community | Professionals

L.I: To look at more than one information source when researching.
LI: To record facts in your own words

This week for inquiry, we continued to learn about our local community. This week, our must do was the same as last weeks, but instead of doing everything on our emergency services, we had to do it on professionals around us. like last week, we had to get into a group, and choose a partner. You and your partner would choose 2 of the professionals, and then find facts about those careers. I worked with Jonathan, and we chose to do Lawyer, and Educator. We both decided to work on one each, so I worked on educator, and Jonathan worked on Lawyer.

Inquiry: Emergency Services In Our Local Communtiy

L.I: to look at more than one information source when researching.
L.I: to record facts in your own words

This week for inquiry, we learnt about the emergency services that are located in our community. For this activity, we had to get into a group of 6, and choose a partner. With this partner you needed to choose 2 of the following. Fire fighters, police, ambulance, search and rescue, surf lifesavers, or armed service. My partner was Alex, and we chose to do police and ambulance. Our teachers Mr Wong and Mr Ogilvie had put cards around the room, and on each card there was a fact. There were 6 cards in total, 1 card for each emergency service. We then had to find where those facts were located online. Our next challenge was to find our own facts about the services that we chose, then find a site with the same fact, and finally, find a book with that fact. Alex and I unfortunately didn't find sites backing up the fact from a book about the police, and we couldn't find a book backing up the fact that was put on the wall.

Inquiry: Our Local Community Roles

L.I: to place local community roles in separate areas that represent who they are to you

This week for inquiry, we learnt about our local community. Our must do for this activity was to create a diagram, with 3 - 5 sections. Each section representing what they are to you. We needed an inner sections (The people who you see all the time / your family), a middle section (The people that you see mos of the time, but not everyday, e.g you teachers or friends), and an outer section (People who you don't see, but they are still there, and help you with your everyday life, e.g police officers).
