Summer Learning Journey: Day 4: Week 1 | Activity 2

Today I completed the second activity for day 4 of the first week of the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity, we needed to create a blogpost telling people what our favourite food is, and how to make it.

My favourite food is bacon and egg pie. My mum and I make it together, and I love both preparing it, and eating it. The steps are listed below.  To make this dish, you need bacon, eggs, 4 squares of pastry, milk, tomato, mixed herbs, olives, capsicums, and salt and pepper. First, spray cooking spray onto tray, and apply pastry to the bottom off a tray. Next, place extra pastry half way up the sides of the tray. Thirdly chop up all ingredients, and sprinkle on pastry. After this, crack 6 eggs, and spread it's contents around the pastry. Next, place salt and pepper over ingredients, and add a top layer of pastry. Squash top layer of pastry with bottom, to join it all together. If there is any leftover pastry, you can cut it into small pieces, and decorate the top of your dish. After that, brush some milk over the top of your pastry, and put it in the oven for 35 - 45 minutes at 190 - 200 degrees. Make sure to check it every once and a while, and once done, serve it, and eat up.

  1. Hi Jack...great to see you blogging on the SLJ. There's still some time to complete the activities before school begins - how many more can you get done? Keep up the great work

  2. Kia Ora Jack - great to see you back blogging. Lee here from the Summer Learning Journey team. What a delicious looking pie! Is that one that you ate yourself? Making me extremely hungry wither way. What other stuff do you like to cook? I guess at first bacon and egg pic seems hard, but it's not so bad once you start. I should make one sometime.

Keep up your blogging, you're doing great!

  3. Hi Jack!
Its great to see that you are catching up with the SLJ activities. You have done an amazing job. Well done on completing this activity. I love your blog post about Bacon and Egg Pie. I have never eaten Bacon & Egg pie. I think you should work on separating your recipe from your little description about the Food.
    Blog you later!

  4. Hi Alex
I have just returned from my holiday and have had a look through your SLJ activities. Great to see you have been taking part in the SLJ challenges. Which was your favourite activity? Yum! I'm so glad you added the recipe for your delicious bacon and egg pie. I agree with Florence, separating the ingredients and the method would make it easier to read. Keep working hard :)

  5. Hello Jack! I really enjoy bacon and egg pies but never really looked into how to make them. That's amazing your able to fix it up yourself, I would usually get them bought. How often do you have this dish? Keep it up!

  6. Greetings Jack,
Well done for completing another task on the Summer Learning Journey. I hope you enjoyed your summer break. I really enjoyed reading your blog posts. I really like how you took your own photo. This really looks yummy. I really like how you wrote what we need and how to make that yummy dish.

Have you ever eaten it with any other vegetables?

  7. Hi Jack,
Great job on completing this activity! I liked how you said that you and your Mum bake bacon and egg pies and love making them together. I also liked how detailed your recipe is. When you make your bacon and egg pies, do you make them for all of your family?
