The second activity for the Summer Learning Journey was to write in your own words 3 different facts about the country you chose.
3 Facts

1. The name Canada came from the word kanata which means settlement or village.
2. In 2012 there was about 35 million people in Canada.
3. Canada is the second largest country in the world while Russia is the largest.
Hi Jack,
ReplyDeleteThese are great facts! The first of your facts is actually one of the least well known. Most people don't know that the name 'Canada' actually comes from the word 'Kanata' that means settlement in a language spoken by one of our indigenous tribes. My sister, Leigh, actually lives in a city in Canada that is called 'Kanata.'
She lives there with her husband and her two children (Ella and Grayson). I am hoping to get back to Canada one day soon to spend time with them. In the meantime, I will enjoy blogging with you and learning more about Canada as I go.
Speaking of learning, which of the three facts that you posted surprised you the most? Were you surprised that Canada has over 35 million people living in the country? It is pretty big, particularly when you think that New Zealand has a population of about 4.5 million people...
Keep up the great work with your blogging, Jack!
Best,
Rachel :)
