Summer Learning Journey: Day 2 : Week 2 | Activity 1

Today, I completed the first activity for day 2 of week 2 of the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity, we needed to watch This Video of somebody weaving some flax to create a fish. We then needed to create a blogpost explaining whether we would like to try flax weaving, if it interests us, and why or why not.

Yes I would one day want to try flax weaving. It does interest me, and I believe that it would make a great hobby. I find it interesting, as I remember when I was young, I saw someone weaving some flax, and I was amazed at how this large bit of flax was made into a beautiful flower.

  1. Hello Jack,
Well done for completing another Summer Learning Journey Activity! It sounds nice that you seem interested in flax weaving, because I am too! I was also amazed to see some flax turn into beautiful creations. It would also create an amazing hobby as you said, and you can do it in your free time when you're bored and have nothing to do. I think that you've done a wonderful job explaining.

Have fun for the last 10 hours of the Summer Learning Journey!

  2. Hi Jack!

I am glad that you would like to try flax weaving - I think it would be awesome to try too!
I quite like doing crafty things that make me have to problem solve...I started to teach myself how to macrame two years ago and that reminds me of flax weaving a little bit! Lots of problem solving :)

That's really cool you have seen it done before too - That would have given you a good idea of what it would involve!
What do you think you would make first?
I think it would be pretty cool to make a school bag. :)

    Great work Jack!

    Nga mihi,
    Ellee :)
