KiwiCan: Week 3

Yesterday, we had our week 3 session of KiwiCan. This week, we learnt about active listening, and our topic and theme this term is Positive Communication, and Positive Relationships. Our activity, was a game called Chop Suey Salute. For this game, you have to listen to the caller, and he or she will call either 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Each number corresponding to a different action. 1 was a single punch, 2 was 2. 3 was two punches and a kick. 4 was both hands together, and a push. And 5 was an uppercut. You would compete against someone for this game, and whoever was faster would win the round. You needed to win 2 rounds to win, and the winner would stay for the challenger to compete against. The best player in our class was Julian, and we even had a champion from Learning Space 1 come in to compete. We had a lot of fun yesterday, and want to play more games like Chop Suey Salute next time.

HIIT: Week 3 | Session 1

Today, we had our first session for the third week of HIIT for term 2. For today's session, our exercises were high knee sprints, tap step, mountain climbers, and start jumps. We did this rotation in 4 lines of five, and ended up doing it at least 6 times each. We would do each exercise for 20 seconds, and have a 10 second break. This session of HIIT, we definitely managed to get puffed, as that is the goal for this whole program. Constantly, we were energised, and hard working to push our limits, and improve our previous records. I don't know what our next exercises will be, but I hope we will get just as energised.

KiwiCan: Week 3 Session

Today we had KiwiCan. This time for KiwiCan we played two games, they were Tangled Arms, and 10 Down. Both were simple and fun games. First there was Tangled arms, the rules are, get into a group and make a circle with all players. The person that you are facing would then hold your left or right hand, this process must continue until everyone is holding someones hand. Then do the process again, but with a different hand being held. Next you have to attempt to create your circle again without anyone letting go of their peers hand/s. Secondly and lastly we played 10 Down. You are split into two teams, one wearing bibs, the other team not. One team will start with the ball, your objective being tap the ball on the ground and pass. You want this to continue until the ball has been placed on the ground 10 times. Although you are allowed to hit the ball out of an opponents hand, if the ball then lands in the outside of the cones, the other team starts with the ball. We all enjoyed this activity, and I was lucky enough to be able to play with an injured knee. (Being the reason why there is tape on my knee in some photos.
