Reading: Waltzing Matilda
Last week for reading, we started an activity. The activity was to read the poem Waltzing Matilda by Banjo Paterson. After reading the poem, we needed to get into pairs, and analyse and unpack the the poem. With this information we then needed to go through a couple of questions. This included which version of the poem did you prefer, the original or new version? What do you think the poem was about? And what Literary Devices could the poet use to paint a vivid image in our heads? Once those questions were answered, the final step was to create a DLO that would explain what the poem was about in a summary. To help keep our ideas in order, a template DLO was given to us which we could use to store our ideas. For this activity I worked Giovanni, and we had a lot of fun.

New Zealand Sign Language Week: DLO
Last week was NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language) week. In class we learnt a bit about the language, which includes the alphabet, (Which means we know how to spell words out) and a few words to go along with it. After we had learnt about the language, it was time to create a DLO to teach others about the language. In my DLO, I have included what Sing Language is, where it is used, and an example of using sign language. What I found challenging about Sign Language was reading other people spell out words, as sometimes they would go to fast making it impossible to spell out, or the wouldn't face their hands towards me, so I couldn't see what they were saying. Overall I really enjoyed Sign Language Week, and I hope that we do more activities based around the topic.

Neighbourhood Niggles Mr And Mrs Fitz DLO
This is a DLO on the story Neighbourhood Niggles. The story is about the author Susie Long and her neighbours Mr and Mrs Fitz. Mr and Mrs Fitz have hundreds of hens, but Susie does not like them for that. The noise they make are really loud so Susie has to wear earmuffs, the hens feathers fall off and blow into her property, but the worst thing about the hen is their poop. When it rains, the poop goes down the street and into the drains. So that's why Susie does not like the Fitz and she wants them to move to the countryside with a more suitable backyard.
